About The Conference

Maiden conference of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences will focus on "Contemporary Breakthroughs in Physical Sciences : Catalyst for Sustainable Development". The programme of event highlights the most relevant issues in the area of Physical Sciences. The conference shall start with keynote and plenary speeches follow by sessions. The conference shall bring you an excellent opportunity to establish a scientific collaboration with other participants. It will provide a platform to exchange information on relevant issues, have open discussions, knowledge sharing and interactive sessions with field experts.

Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman

Shehu Abdul Rahman, the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Gashua, and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) (Admin.), Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and the current Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia is a professor of Agricultural Economics. Prior to his appointment as DVC he was the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture degree in 1993, M.Sc. Agric. Economics in 1998 and a Ph.D. in Agric. Economics in 2001, all from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. His working experience spans from Assistant Lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1994 to a full Professor at Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2008 at the age of 40. He is now in Federal University of Lafia in Nasarawa State. He has served in various capacities rendering administrative and community development services in addition to teaching and research. His research activities produced over one hundred (100) publications in both National and International Journals of repute. He has presented over sixty five (65) papers at various seminars, workshops and conferences. Prof. Ibrahim Garba Bassi

Ibrahim Garba Bassi obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in year 2012. His current research work focuses on the Theory of Non – Commutative Levy Processes. He is currently the Dean, Faculty of Science, Federal University of Lafia

Prof. Uno Essang Uno

Uno Essang Uno obtained a bachelor’s degree in Physics in 1986 from the University of Calabar, Calabar Cross River State. His Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees were obtained from the University of Abuja, FCT in 2000 and 2006 respectively. He started his teaching career at Federal University of Technology Minna in 2002 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose to the rank of Professor in 2015. He has held various positions and served in many committees in the Federal University of Technology Minna which includes amongst others, Examination Officer, department of Physics, Examination Officer, School of Science and Science Education, Deputy Chairman, University Board of Research and the Pioneer Coordinator of Electronic Based Examination in the University. The center he handled meritoriously for 11years from 2008-2019. He is the immediate past Head of Department of Physics and Member, University Governing Council. He was the LOC Chairman, 40th edition of NIP and Member, NIP Council (2017-2018). His research interest focusses on Semiconductor devices, with emphasis on photoemission, photocell, and thin film. He has supervised over 45 Master's and 8 Doctoral Theses. He is a Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Physics FNIP and the Institute of Corporate Administration (FICA). He belongs to several other Professional Bodies. He has over 67 Scholarly Publications in reputable Books and Journals. He is the Co- Author of the Book titled ''Winning Gold at the International Science Olympiads". Prof Uno has contributed immensely to the growth and popularization of Science and Technology in Nigeria and beyond.

Registration Procedure (LOCAL PARTICIPANTS)

  • Visit the event page at https://fulafia.edu.ng/nsps2021 . Click on Register. Select your title, enter your complete name, enter your email address and enter your phone number. If you are a registered member of NSPS, enter your membership number otherwise leave the space blank. Click on "Register" button.

  • You are now on the payment page for abstract submission. You can choose to either pay online by clicking on "Pay Online Now" or pay at any Commercial Bank via clicking on "Print and Pay in Bank". If you choose to pay online, you would be redirected to Remita where you would have 5 options to pay

    (a) Mastercard: Enter your card number, Expiry date, and CVV and click on pay

    (b) Bank Branch: Print the invoice and proceed to any commercial bank.

    (c) USSD: Dial *737*33*1*Your RRR# on your phone number registered with GTB or Dial *770*Your RRR # on your phone number registered with FIDELITY Bank

    (d) Internet Banking: Select your bank from the dropdown and follow the prompt.

    (e) eWallet: Paga

    Immediately after a successful payment, you would receive a receipt of payment from Remita. ALL payments must be initiated from the portal. Any RRR not generated on the portal would not be recognized by the portal.

    Please note that if you choose an option to pay via MasterCard, you would be redirected to a page where you can upload your abstract, immediately after successful payment. However, if you choose to pay via other options, then you must login again to your portal using your phone number and email address and click on "Verify Payment Made". Your payment would be instantly verified and you would be redirected to a page where you can upload your abstract.

    You are now on the abstract submission page. Enter your abstract title, select the file (PDF), Enter your affiliation and enter the names of your co-authors (without title, e.g. M. S. Shun). Click on submit abstract. Allow the file to upload and the next page to display "Submitted Successfully". This may take up to 30 seconds or more depending on your internet connectivity. Check your email for acknowledgment mail.

  • Within 5 days, your abstract would be reviewed and if there is no need for revision, you would receive a notification of acceptance otherwise you would be asked to revise and resubmit for reconsideration at no cost.

  • Once your abstract is accepted, please visit the portal again at https://fulafia.edu.ng/nsps2021 and click on login. Enter your phone number and email address and click on login. The details of the registration payment would be displayed for you. Click on "Pay" button and repeat payment procedure stated in step 2 again.

  • After the step 4 is successful, you would now be redirected to a page where you can complete you registration. Select your recent passport photograph, enter your postal address, select sex and click on complete registration. Allow the file to upload and next page to display "ACKNOWLEDGEMENT SLIP". This may take up to 30 seconds or more.

    Now your registration is complete. Download your acknowledgment slip and bring it to the venue. Procedure to make hotel reservation on your portal would be communicated later.

Registration Procedure (INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS & STUDENTS)

    All intending international participants should send their abstracts to nsps2021@fulafia.edu.ng with the subject "INT-SURNAME-Abstract Title. Submission of abstract is free. The conference registration fee (payable on-spot) is 120 USD for members of NSPS and 160 USD for non members of NSPS. The deadline is September 1, 2021. "

    All undergraduate students who intend to attend the conference should send their abstracts and scanned copy of their valid Student's ID Card to nsps2021@fulafia.edu.ng with the subject "STD-SURNAME-Abstract Title". Submission of abstract is free. The conference registration fee (payable on-spot) is 10,000 Naira and the deadline is September 29, 2021.
