Dr. Simon is a radiation biophysicist, nuclear scientist, educator, and researcher whose career reflects a strong commitment to nuclear safety and the peaceful application of nuclear technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics Education, as well as Masterโs and Doctoral degrees in Radiation Biophysics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He currently serves in the Department of Physics at the National Open University of Nigeria, where he contributes to teaching, postgraduate coordination, research, mentorship, and the development of future scientists.
His research spans reactor modelling and simulation, radiation shielding, radioactive waste management, nuclear fuel characterisation, radiological risk assessment, nuclear security, environmental radioactivity, and emergency preparedness. Through this work, Dr. Simon helps address critical questions surrounding the safe and responsible use of nuclear science in Nigeria.
His scholarly journey includes numerous journal articles, a book chapter, and several presentations at national and international scientific conferences. His work has also attracted competitive research and travel grants from respected institutions, including the International Atomic Energy Agency and CRDF Global.
One of his notable achievements is receiving the Best Presenter Award in the Physics and Astronomy Section at the 2026 International Scientific Conference of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences. He has also earned international recognition through the Young Generation Challenge of an IAEA conference.
Beyond the laboratory and classroom, Dr. Simon is committed to professional service, leadership, science communication, mentorship, and capacity building. He supports the scientific community as a journal reviewer, resource person, postgraduate coordinator, and member of professional and technical organizations connected to nuclear science and education.
